Bleachbit is a cross platform maintenance tool found in the Ubuntu Synaptic Package Manager or by typing sudo apt-get install synaptic into a terminal.

It removes unnecessary files such as cache, cookie, passwords, places, download history, form history, bash history, session restore, URL history, vacuum, flash cookies (LSOs), broken desktop files, clipboard, frees disk space, localizations, recent documents list, rotated logs, temp files, thumbnail cache, debug logs.

BleachBit wipes free disk space (to hide previously deleted files for privacy and to improve compression of images), vacuums Firefox databases (to improve performance without deleting data), and securely shreds arbitrary files.
